dancing dragons!

It seems so long ago now that Melbourne’s Chinese community ran around the streets of the cbd with drums, dragons, phoenix’s and firecrackers.

As the Dragon weaves its way through the crowded side streets of Melbourne, you are invited to touch the it for good luck. Some even ran under and through it. The dragon actually “broke down” right by us, its leg fell off, so some emergency repairs had to be done, hence plenty of detailed photo opportunities!

All the Chinese businesses hung a lettuce up outside their front door, for the dragon to eat. Throughout the day was the smell of firecrackers, as the dragons visited each property to dance, eat the lettuce and well, from what I could see generally create a song and dance!

A great day to be wandering around the city!

About graceeliz

Many years ago I met someone who said: "Don't know what you want to do with your life? Teach English as a foreign language, then you can travel the world. Best thing I've ever done!" That got me thinking. Research was done. Course booked in Barcelona. Certificate gained. 5 years living in Barcelona working as an English teacher. Done! Where to next? Check out my blog! 5 years in Barcelona, 6 months in Slovakia, 2 years in Australia... and now I am home in Somerset. We'll see if I can stop the itch in my feet...
